Parenting in the Age of Screens

Screens are everywhere—phones, tablets, TVs, and laptops. For today’s children, growing up without them is almost unimaginable. While technology brings benefits like access to knowledge and learning resources, it also presents challenges for Muslim parents striving to raise children with strong faith and values.

Islam teaches us balance. The Prophet ﷺ reminded us that our time and hearts should not be consumed by distractions. This lesson applies perfectly to how we manage screens in our homes. Limiting screen time, encouraging real-world play, and prioritizing family conversations can help children develop healthier habits.

Equally important is guiding children toward beneficial content. Parents can use technology as a tool for learning Qur’an, Islamic stories, and positive skills, rather than letting it become a source of wasted time or harmful influences.

By setting boundaries, being role models ourselves, and making dua for our children, we can navigate the digital world with wisdom. With Allah’s help, we can raise a generation that uses technology responsibly while staying firmly rooted in faith.
